Our Child & Youth Services
Life Help’s children and youth services provide treatment to children ages 3 to 21 who exhibit serious emotional and behavioral disorders. With family involvement, each child is individually evaluated with an aim towards identifying which of our programs or services are best tailored to their needs. A parent or legal guardian must provide written approval of any treatment plans.
DAY TREATMENT PROGRAM
(All Life Help Counties)
Utilizing an evidence-based curriculum in a group setting, Master’s level clinicians target skills training in areas of impulse control, conflict resolution and mood regulation. The program is located at the child’s school, allowing the clinician to work closely with school personnel and family members to monitor the child’s progress. Various rewards are earned by the child for meeting treatment goals. The program runs a minimum of two hours per day, two to five days per week.
PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES
(All Life Help Counties)
At times, children with emotional and behavioral problems require medication. Life Help offers medication services through Board certified child psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. School and clinic based clinicians work closely with these prescribers to formulate the best treatment plan possible.
FAMILY THERAPY
(All Life Help Counties)
As part of a holistic approach, school and clinic based therapists include parents and caregivers in counseling sessions. Family sessions typically target parenting skills, family dynamics, illness education and other supportive therapies. For children enrolled in school based programs, these sessions can take place at a location convenient to the family, whether at home, school, or clinic.
MAKING A PLAN (MAP)
(All Life Help Counties)
MAP is a collaboration between Life Help’s Children Services and multiple community partners. The goal is to obtain resources for children who are at risk for out of home placement.
